Schutz's commentary on twenty-firstcentury politics, celebrity, religion, and mores is both absurdist and prescient. Her works are splashed with vibrant color and enriched with tactile brushwork. Schutz combines traditional technique with innovative content to create ambitious, idiosyncratic paintings for our anxious age. Schutz is the recipient of the 2011 Roy R. Neuberger Prize awarded every two years to an artist for an early career survey and monograph.
